When a child develops cancer, I think there are two main ways of thinking about cancer notification.
① Announce that you have cancer
② Do not announce cancer
In my case, about 40 years ago, my doctor told me that I had cancer in (1).
At a later date, I was informed that my doctor had the following thoughts.
And because my parents approved the proposal.
・ Being in a mental state that can withstand cancer notification
・ To be able to select a position that respects autonomy, aiming for the autonomy of the person, knowing that he / she has cancer.
The following is especially important, and he decided to announce cancer with the aim of eliciting a feeling of confronting cancer and being able to withstand the painful and long-term anticancer drug treatment.
However, when I was only 10 years old, I was not cultivated with strong mental strength.
I was very shocked and depressed when I was notified of cancer by my doctor.
At this time, it was very painful and I was shocked beyond words.
However, the effect of the announcement was not completely meaningless.
Certainly, I was very depressed when I was notified of cancer, but it is a fact that a positive attitude and feelings gradually developed during the period from preparation for surgery to surgery and hospitalization.
I realized that I was prepared for cancer, but I never gave up or was thrown away.
I can’t accurately express my feelings at the time, but when I heard the word “cancer”, I wasn’t too conscious of it.
I think that the change in consciousness changed the perception of cancer.
No one is immortal, and one day we have to face “death.”

The more I knew the identity of the cancer that had developed in my body, the less scary I was able to notice.
I think it was a change that proved that my mental strength had been strongly cultivated.
When I was 10 years old, I was informed that I had developed cancer, but thanks to this cancer, I was ready to fight the cancer that had developed in my body.
However, I would like to recognize that not all cancer patients match the same case as me.
