Important things when a young child is notified of cancer vol.1

Important things when a young child is notified of cancer vol.1

I think I had that experience to talk about the content of this title.
There may have been a reason for it to be used until now.
In the summer of 10 years old (3rd grade), I developed a rare cancer (osteosarcoma) at the base of my right foot. The entire abdomen swelled abnormally, and pus began to accumulate around the skull on the head due to the effects of abnormally proliferated white blood cells. If the discovery and treatment were late for the next week, I wasn’t alive now.
It may have been very rare at that time, but I was directly notified of cancer by the director of my doctor.
It was decided from the idea of the director.
This is the first case in the prefecture that the university (hospital) knows, and it is a very rare cancer. Moreover, no cure has been established, and the survival rate of the affected person is extremely low.
In order to confront such a disease, which cannot be guaranteed to be completely cured or even survived, the success of surgery, the effect of subsequent treatment, and the patient himself
・ The patient’s strong will to live
・ Strong mental strength to withstand cancer notification
・ Physical strength and patience to withstand long-term cancer treatment
I was told during hospitalization that the director thought, “This child is okay,” and decided to announce it.
However, I think it was an unusually difficult thing that the director thought.
At this point, it is not possible to accurately judge “the necessity and validity of the announcement” and whether the announcement at that time was correct. Because, as of now, my cancer is completely cured.
How was it when you received the announcement

Please look forward to the next post.

At the age of 10, one in one million people develops a rare cancer (osteosarcoma).
Cancer notification, amputation of right leg and life expectancy from the attending physician. From my own experience, I would like to convey the hearts of cancer patients, especially children with childhood cancer, to the world.
