わたしは、幼い頃から絵を描くことが好きで、いつも絵の具をポッケに、入れて持ち歩いていたという(母の記憶)。
そんなわたしは、大の本嫌いだった。
ただ、絵本だけは違っていた。
絵本は、その絵を楽しむことが出来たからだ。

By the way, the initial published work that marked my debut as a picture book author was an entry in a publisher’s “Picture Book Award” competition.

This “very narrow gate” finally opened.
Unlike completely self-published works, which lack publisher management, media promotion, advertising, and negotiations with bookstores, getting through the publisher’s review, undergoing scrutiny, and officially releasing my book as a published work was an incredibly precious and special achievement.
And I was able to realize that.
While there are many hurdles to becoming a nationally published picture book author, it is not impossible.
