わたしが執筆した絵本「マンタに乗った少年」は、書店での発売前にも関わらず、Amazonや楽天ブックスなどのネット販売で売れはじめた。
本は書店で買うものから、自宅に届けられるネット通販が主流になってしまったようだ。
しかも、ネット販売での購入品は、正式な書籍販売よりも二週間も早く手元に届く。
早速、わたしのお友達がネットで購入くださった。
市場販売第一号の彼女には、ご希望通りの、「サイン第一号」を。
市場に出た書籍の最初の読者となった彼女は、わたしの絵本をどのように読むのだろう。
だが、わたしは彼女の感想を聞きたいわけではなく、どのような場面で絵本を開いたのかを知りたいと思った。
わたしの絵本は、小学生から大人までを対象にした構成を心がけた。
年齢によって、性別によって、または、読者の気分によって、絵本を開くシチュエーションは異なるはずだ。
とても興味深いので、気持ちを自然な状態で、聞きたいので、用心深く、それでもって、さらっと聞いてみようと思う。

The picture book I wrote, “The Boy Who Rode a Manta,” has started selling on online platforms like Amazon and Rakuten Books even before its official release in stores. It seems that buying books through online shopping, where they are delivered directly to your home, has become mainstream compared to purchasing them at bookstores.
Interestingly, books purchased online arrive two weeks earlier than the official release date.
One of my friends has already purchased it online. As the first buyer, she requested and received “the first signed copy.” I wonder how she will read my picture book, being its initial reader in the market.
However, I am not interested in hearing her opinion; rather, I would like to know in what context she decided to open the book.
I crafted my picture book with a structure that appeals to both elementary school children and adults.
Depending on age, gender, or even the reader’s mood, the situation in which they open the book should vary.
I am very curious and would like to hear about it naturally, so I plan to inquire cautiously and casually.
