ほっし校長 「ねぇ、僕の言葉がわかるの？」
まさくんは大きな声で、天を泳ぐ大きなクジラに話しかけました。
「キュワァーン、キュワァーン、キューヒー！」
大きなクジラはまさくんの言葉に返事をしているみたいでした。
まさくんは、もっとクジラと会話をしたくなりました。
「僕、ママと会話したいんだ。」
まさくんが大きなクジラに話しかけると、
その大きなクジラが、大きな唸り音を響かせながら、まさくんの方へ向かってきました。
巨大な船のように大きなクジラの身体があっという間に、まさくんを背中にのせて、
再び天に上りました。
「わぁー、わぁー、すごーい。」
まさくんは、今だかつてない世界を見て驚いていました。
その大きなクジラの背中は、その先が見えないほど大きく、クジラの背中はフワフワしていました。
「ねぇ、僕、ママとお別れの挨拶をしなくてはいけないんだ。」
「君なら、それが、出来るのかい？」
「キュワァーン、キュワァーン、キューヒー！」
大きなクジラが唸り音を立てたとき、
大きなクジラの向かう先に、キラキラ光る大きなトンネルが現れました。
大きなクジラは、そのトンネルに向けて、猛スピードで向かっていきました。
まさくんは、大きなクジラの大きな背中の上で、前かがみに、足でしっかりと踏ん張り耐えました。
大きなクジラがトンネルを通り抜けるとき、
おのキラキラした光は、まさくんを包み込み
そして、気が付くと、そのトンネルは消えてなくなっていました。
そして、大きなクジラもいなくなっていました。
まさくんを包むキラキラした光は、その瞬きを落ち着かせ、大きな貝の姿を見せました。
まさくんは、大きな貝に乗ってキラキラした空の道を飛んでいました。
そして、その大きな貝はまさくんを乗せて、ママの元に向かいました。

“Hey — can you understand my words?”
Masa called up to the great whale swimming through the sky.
“Kyuaaan, kyuaaan, kyuu-hii!”
The whale seemed to answer Masa’s words.
Masa wanted to talk with the whale more.
“I want to talk to Mama.”
When he spoke, the great whale let out a deep booming sound and turned toward him.
In an instant the whale—huge as a giant ship—lifted Masa onto its back and rose again into the sky.
“Wow, wow, amazing.”
Masa was astonished by a world he had never seen before.
The whale’s back was so vast its end couldn’t be seen, and it felt soft and cushiony.
“Listen, I have to say goodbye to Mama.”
“Do you think you can do that?”
“Kyuaaan, kyuaaan, kyuu-hii!”
As the whale uttered its deep cry, a sparkling, enormous tunnel appeared ahead of them.
The whale shot toward the tunnel at full speed.
Masa crouched forward on its broad back, bracing his feet to hold on.
When the whale passed through, the glittering light wrapped around Masa—
and when he opened his eyes, the tunnel had vanished.
The whale was gone too.
The glittering light around Masa settled and revealed a large, shining shell.
Masa rode the shell along a glittering path in the sky.
The shell carried him toward Mama.
