ほっし校長 以前、石川県の倶利伽羅不動尊を奉った寺を参拝した。
倶利伽羅不動尊は、本殿と鳳凰殿があり、今回は鳳凰殿について。
鳳凰殿のお堂内で、おみくじをひいた。
そのおみくじには、「大吉」と書かれており、
さらに「賢」の文字がおみくじの内容を表す一文字として書かれていた。
「賢」という言葉は、仏教において深い意味を持ちます。仏教の文脈で「賢」は、通常、知恵や正しい理解を持つ人を指します。これは、自己理解や世界の真実への洞察を持ち、煩悩や無明を超えて悟りを目指す者を意味します。
具体的には、「賢者」と呼ばれる人物は、知識と倫理において他者の模範となる存在であり、心の平穏や悟りに近い状態を維持し、他者の苦しみを少なくするために努力する人と考えられます。仏教においては、八正道の実践を通して「賢明」になることが求められるとされています。

I once visited a temple dedicated to Kurikara Fudoson in Ishikawa Prefecture.
Kurikara Fudoson features the Main Hall and the Phoenix Hall; this time, I’ll focus on the Phoenix Hall.
Inside the Phoenix Hall, I drew a fortune slip (omikuji).
The slip read “Daikichi” (great fortune), and the character “Ken” (wise) was noted to symbolize the essence of the fortune.
In Buddhism, the word “Ken” holds profound meaning. In this context, “Ken” typically refers to a person possessing wisdom and proper understanding. It signifies someone striving for enlightenment, who has insight into self-awareness and the truths of the world, transcending earthly desires and ignorance.
Specifically, individuals referred to as “Sages” are seen as exemplars of knowledge and ethics, maintaining a state of inner peace and proximity to enlightenment, and endeavoring to alleviate the suffering of others. In Buddhism, achieving “wisdom” is pursued through the practice of the Noble Eightfold Path.
